Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Mexico Shores at https://mexicoshores.com handles, why it is handled, who else is involved, and what choices you have. The site is designed to collect as little information as possible. Please read it together with the Terms of Use and the Disclosure page.
Who we are and what this policy covers
In this policy, Mexico Shores, we, us and our mean the website and the person or people who own and operate it. This policy doesn’t name a legal entity or postal address for the operator, and the contact routes at the end of this page are the way to reach the operator about privacy. This policy applies to visits to mexicoshores.com and to messages sent through the site’s contact form or to hello@mexicoshores.com. It takes effect on the date shown at the top of this page. It doesn’t apply to websites linked from the guides, which have their own privacy practices. The site relies on outside providers, mainly Cloudflare, to host and protect the site and to forward messages, and those providers also handle data under their own privacy policies and terms. This policy describes what Mexico Shores does and has configured, and it can’t change how those providers operate their own services. Mexico Shores has no analytics, advertising, user accounts, newsletter, comments, public submissions or social media accounts, so the information it handles is limited to what is described below.
Information we handle
Information you choose to send us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, a subject and your message. If you email hello@mexicoshores.com instead, we receive your email address, any name shown with it, the subject, the message and anything else you include, along with the ordinary technical headers that accompany an email, such as the date and the sending mail servers. You decide what goes into a message, and we receive whatever you choose to share, such as the cities you are considering or whether you plan to rent or buy. Please don’t send passport numbers, financial statements, identification documents, health details or other sensitive information, because the site doesn’t need them. If your message includes information about another person, please share only what you are entitled to share.
Information processed automatically
Whenever you visit any website, your browser sends technical information with each request. For Mexico Shores, that information includes your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, the date and time, and security-related signals. Cloudflare processes this information to deliver pages, route traffic, detect and block attacks and keep the site available, and it may derive an approximate location from your IP address for those purposes. Mexico Shores hasn’t configured any analytics service on top of Cloudflare’s delivery and security processing. As part of its standard service, Cloudflare’s account dashboard may show the operator aggregated traffic and security statistics that Cloudflare produces itself. On the Contact page, Cloudflare Turnstile processes signals from your browser and device, such as your IP address and browser characteristics, to tell people apart from automated spam. When you submit the form, a Cloudflare Worker sends the resulting Turnstile token to Cloudflare to verify that the submission passed the check before the message is forwarded.
Cookies and local storage
Mexico Shores doesn’t set any cookies of its own. If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves a value named theme in your browser’s local storage so that your choice is remembered on later visits. That value stays on your device, isn’t sent to us, and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for mexicoshores.com. Cloudflare Turnstile on the Contact page may use its own cookies or similar technologies to detect bots, and Cloudflare may set security cookies to protect the site from malicious traffic. The site doesn’t use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or tracking pixels. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but blocking the technologies Turnstile relies on may stop the contact form from working, in which case you can email hello@mexicoshores.com instead.
Information from other sources
Mexico Shores doesn’t buy personal information and doesn’t receive information about you from data brokers, advertisers or social networks. The only information received from others is what providers generate in running the site, such as Cloudflare’s security signals, the result of a Turnstile check and the delivery details of forwarded email. If someone else writes to us and mentions you, we receive whatever they include in their message.
Legal bases for processing
Some privacy laws, such as the European Union and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation, require a legal basis for handling personal information, and this section applies where such laws apply. Technical request data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in delivering the site, keeping it secure and preventing abuse. Turnstile signals are processed on the basis of legitimate interests in protecting the contact form and the operator’s inbox from spam and automated abuse. Contact messages are processed to respond to your request and on the basis of legitimate interests in answering questions, considering suggestions, correcting errors and keeping a record of correspondence. Information may also be processed where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The theme preference is stored only because you chose a theme, to provide the feature you asked for. Mexico Shores doesn’t rely on consent for advertising or tracking because it doesn’t do either, and if it ever needed consent for a new purpose, it would ask for it and you could withdraw it. The site has no contracts with readers that require personal information, because it has no accounts, purchases or subscriptions. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting us, as described in Your rights and choices.
How we use information
Information is used only for the purposes described in this policy.
- Technical request data is used to deliver pages, keep the site available and protect it from attacks and abuse.
- Turnstile signals and tokens are used to check that contact form submissions come from people rather than automated tools.
- Contact messages are used to read and reply to you, to consider your suggestion or correction, to check and fix reported errors, and to keep a record of the conversation.
- Information in a privacy request is used to verify the request, carry it out and keep a record that it was handled.
- Information may be used where necessary to comply with law, enforce the Terms of Use, and protect the rights, safety and security of the site, its readers and its operators.
Mexico Shores doesn’t use personal information for advertising, profiling, selling, or decisions with legal or similarly significant effects made solely by automated means. Contact details aren’t used to send marketing or newsletters, and the site has no mailing list. Messages aren’t published on the site.
No advertising, analytics or tracking
Mexico Shores doesn’t use any analytics service, such as Google Analytics. It doesn’t show advertising, work with ad networks, use advertising or tracking cookies or pixels, or build profiles of readers. It doesn’t share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and doesn’t take part in affiliate programs. It has no social media accounts and no newsletter. Because the site doesn’t track readers across websites or sell or share personal information for advertising, browser signals such as Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control don’t change how the site behaves, since there is no such activity to switch off. If analytics or advertising were ever added, this policy would be updated before or when that happens, and any consent or opt-out that applicable law requires would be provided.
How information is shared
Mexico Shores doesn’t sell, rent or trade personal information. It doesn’t share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as that term is used in California law. Information is disclosed only in the limited ways described in this section.
- Cloudflare processes request data, Turnstile signals and forwarded messages as the provider that hosts, protects and delivers the site and its email.
- Forwarded messages are stored with the email provider that hosts the operator’s private inbox, which handles them under its own terms.
- Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation or valid legal process, or to respond to a lawful request from a public authority.
- Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Mexico Shores, its operators, readers or others, or to investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents.
- Information may be disclosed to professional advisers, such as lawyers, where needed to obtain advice or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- If ownership or operation of the site is transferred, correspondence records may transfer with it, and they would remain subject to this policy or to a policy that is at least as protective, unless you are told otherwise and given any choice required by law.
- Information may be shared in other ways at your direction or with your consent.
Third-party services we use
These are the outside services involved in running Mexico Shores and the role each plays.
- Cloudflare Workers hosts and delivers the site and provides security against attacks, which requires processing request data such as IP addresses and browser details.
- Cloudflare Turnstile protects the contact form from automated spam, is loaded on the Contact page, and processes browser and device signals for that purpose.
- Cloudflare Email Routing forwards contact form messages and email sent to hello@mexicoshores.com to the operator’s private inbox, with your email address set as the reply-to address for form messages.
- The operator’s private inbox is provided by an email service that stores forwarded messages under its own terms and privacy policy.
- GitHub hosts the site’s source code and build workflow, and it doesn’t receive visitor data from the site.
Cloudflare’s handling of data is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy, and Cloudflare publishes additional privacy information about Turnstile. Mexico Shores doesn’t use any other third-party scripts, embeds, analytics or advertising services. If a new service that handles personal information is added, this policy will be updated.
Your rights and choices
You can read Mexico Shores without sending any personal information beyond the technical data that every web request involves. You can choose not to use the contact form, or you can email hello@mexicoshores.com instead if you prefer not to load Turnstile, although email is also forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing. You can clear the theme preference by clearing your browser’s site data, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser, with the effect on the contact form described above.
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive information about how it is used. To make a request, email hello@mexicoshores.com or use the Contact page, say what you are asking for, and mention the email address you used if your request concerns earlier messages. We may need to verify your request, usually by confirming that you control the email address the messages came from, and we may ask for a little more information if that is needed to find the right records. Please don’t send identification documents unless we specifically ask for them because there is no other reasonable way to verify a request. If someone is making a request on your behalf, we may ask for proof that they are authorized and may confirm the request with you directly. We may decline or limit a request where the law allows, for example where information must be kept to comply with a legal obligation, to protect against fraud or abuse, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, and we will explain the reason where appropriate. If we decline a request, you can reply to ask us to reconsider, and you can also contact a privacy regulator where you live. Technical logs held by Cloudflare are controlled by Cloudflare under its own policies, so some requests about that data may need to be directed to Cloudflare. No general response time is promised, but where a law that applies to Mexico Shores sets a deadline for responding to a privacy request, that deadline applies. You won’t be treated differently for exercising your privacy rights.
Security
Every page on Mexico Shores is served over HTTPS, which encrypts the connection between your browser and the site. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, and each submission’s Turnstile token is verified on the server before the message is forwarded. The site has no user accounts, passwords or database of visitor information, which limits what could be exposed. Contact messages are kept in the operator’s private inbox rather than on the website. Mexico Shores hasn’t undergone security audits and holds no security certifications. Email in general isn’t end-to-end encrypted, and forwarded messages pass through and are stored by email providers, which is one reason not to send sensitive information. No website, network, email system or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security can’t be guaranteed. If a security incident affects personal information, Mexico Shores will take the steps required by applicable law, including any required notifications.
How long information is kept
Mexico Shores doesn’t have a fixed retention period for contact messages. Messages are kept in the operator’s inbox for as long as reasonably needed to respond, to handle follow-up questions, and to keep an ordinary record of correspondence, suggestions and corrections. Whether a message is still needed depends on factors such as whether the conversation is ongoing, whether it documents a correction to a guide, and whether it may be relevant to a legal obligation, a dispute or abuse of the contact routes. You can ask for your messages to be deleted, and on a verified request they will be deleted where applicable, subject to the exceptions described in Your rights and choices. Deleted messages may remain for a limited time in the email provider’s systems or backups before they are permanently removed, according to that provider’s practices. Technical request data and Turnstile data handled by Cloudflare are retained according to Cloudflare’s own policies. The theme preference stays in your browser until you clear it.
Children
Mexico Shores is written for adults planning a move, retirement or property decision, and it isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the contact form isn’t intended for children. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, please contact us at hello@mexicoshores.com or through the Contact page, and the information will be deleted once the request has been reasonably verified. Some laws give additional protections to older minors, and requests on their behalf are handled in line with the law that applies.
International processing
Cloudflare operates a global network, so request data, Turnstile signals and forwarded messages may be processed in the United States and in other countries where Cloudflare or the operator’s email provider operates. The privacy laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live. Mexico Shores hasn’t put in place any specific international transfer mechanism of its own, and this policy doesn’t claim one. The providers involved describe their own transfer practices in their privacy policies. Please keep this in mind before sending personal information through the contact form or by email.
External websites
Guides link to government agencies, consulates, official sources, businesses and other websites. When you follow a link, you leave Mexico Shores, and the other site’s own privacy policy and practices apply. Those sites may use cookies, analytics or advertising that Mexico Shores doesn’t use, and Mexico Shores doesn’t control them and isn’t responsible for how they handle information. Please review the privacy policy of any site before you share information with it, especially sites that ask for financial details, identification documents or payments.
California residents
California’s privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, apply to businesses that meet specific thresholds, and this policy doesn’t claim that Mexico Shores is or isn’t subject to them. This section explains how the site’s practices relate to California rights so that California readers have clear information either way. The categories of personal information the site handles are identifiers such as names, email addresses and IP addresses, internet or network activity information such as request data and Turnstile signals, and the contents of messages you choose to send. This information comes from you, from your browser or device, and from Cloudflare’s processing, and it is used for the purposes described in How we use information. It is disclosed only to service providers such as Cloudflare and the operator’s email provider, and in the other limited circumstances described in How information is shared. Mexico Shores doesn’t sell personal information, doesn’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and has no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. The site doesn’t ask for sensitive personal information and doesn’t use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about anyone. Retention follows the criteria described in How long information is kept rather than fixed periods. Where California law applies, you may request to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and you won’t be discriminated against for doing so. Requests can be made through the routes described in Your rights and choices, including by an authorized agent with proof of authorization. The site offers no financial incentives in exchange for personal information. Under California’s Shine the Light law, Mexico Shores doesn’t disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Other US states and other countries
Several other US states, such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Texas, have privacy laws that apply to businesses meeting particular thresholds or conditions, and this policy doesn’t claim that any of them applies to Mexico Shores. Where such a law applies, you may have rights to confirm whether your information is processed, to access, correct or delete it, to obtain a copy, to opt out of targeted advertising, sale or certain profiling, and to appeal a decision about your request. Mexico Shores doesn’t engage in targeted advertising, sale of personal information or profiling, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still send a request through the routes in Your rights and choices. If a request is declined under such a law, you can appeal by replying to our response and saying that you are appealing, and the request will be looked at again. Nevada residents can ask that their covered information not be sold, and although Mexico Shores doesn’t sell covered information as Nevada law defines it, you can send such a request to hello@mexicoshores.com. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Mexico or another country with data protection law, you may have rights such as access, rectification, erasure or cancellation, restriction, objection or opposition, and portability, depending on the law that applies. You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated if the site’s setup changes, for example if a new service that handles personal information is added or an existing one is removed. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated. Because the site has no accounts or mailing list, changes are announced by updating this page rather than by individual notice. If a change would allow information already collected to be used in a materially different way, Mexico Shores will follow any notice or consent requirements of applicable law before doing so.
Contact and complaints
For privacy questions or requests, email hello@mexicoshores.com or use the form on the Contact page. Both routes are set up to forward messages through Cloudflare Email Routing to the operator’s private inbox. Both routes were configured and verified when the site was set up. No email system is perfectly reliable, so if you don’t receive a reply to a privacy request, please try the other route. No general response time is promised, but legal deadlines that apply to a privacy request are respected. If you are unhappy with how a privacy concern has been handled, you can contact the privacy regulator or consumer protection authority where you live, such as a state attorney general or the Federal Trade Commission in the United States or a data protection authority elsewhere.
